5 gems that leaders should have in their prospector leadership toolkit.
Did you know that we have a podcast show called Good Day Leader?
Recently, we recorded episode 9 titled Prospector Leadership.
A prospector leader is someone who specializes in seeing the value in themselves, but even greater, the value in others.
Our host, Equalla Foster shared 5 tools that she believes that every prospector leader should have.
Let's dig in to reveal some gems!
Tool #1 - Patience
This is important for development, understanding, and when leading change.
What does the Bible say about patience?
Better is the end of a thing than its beginning, and the patient in spirit is better than the proud in spirit. ~ Ecclesiastes 7:8 ESV
Tool #2 - Humility
This tool is a requirement for excellent leadership. It should be practiced daily and will take much discipline to do so.
"Leadership is an opportunity to serve. It is not a trumpet call to self-importance." – Donald Walters
Tool #3 - Foster a community that cultivates growth
The training and resources you provide should enable not disable.
If leaders don't develop others and psychologically suffocate those with potential to betterment, then they run a high and inevitable risk of not growing in a healthy manner in leadership.
Tool #4 - Empathy
Build rapport, then validate with warmth, care, wisdom, and attentive listening. This tool is about lending your strength and not about feeling sorry for others.
One example of displaying empathy is by asking open-ended questions to show that you are listening attentively.
ex: Can you share more with me about your concerns? or What ideas/suggestions do you have for this project?
Tool #5 - Give yourself grace.
Lastly, in your prospector toolkit, give permission to learn through your errors, experiences, lack of knowledge or understanding.
Leadership of any style, is not about perfection but allowing yourself to learn, grow, and to be supported as you support others.
